A Pakistani Muslim comes face to face with Christ.
Raised in a Muslim family
When I was 14 years old I was studying in a convent school at Saddar Karachi Pakistan. I belonged to a Muslim family from Islamic Republic of Pakistan. My parents forced me to learn the Qur’an by heart when I was seven and so I did. I had a lot of Christian fellows (or acquaintances) at school.
Rejected the Bible … accepted Muhammad
I was surprised to see them studying as I had always found Christians of a low profile in the society. I discussed and argued a lot with them about the accuracy of Qur’an and the rejection of Bible by Allah in Holy Qur’an. I always forced them to accept Islam. Often my Christian teacher told me not to do so. He said, “God may choose you as he chose the Apostle Paul.” I would ask him, “Who is Paul?” I knew only Muhammad.
The burning of Holy Books
One day during our discussions, I challenged them to burn each other’s Holy books. They would burn the Qur’an and I would burn the Bible. We agreed. The book that burns would be false. The book, which does not burn, has the truth in it. God Himself would save His Word. But they were frightened because burning a Qur’an has severe consequences in an Islamic country. So I told them I would burn both books to see what happened.
The Lord Jesus commanded me to go and preach
First I set the Qur’an on fire and it burnt before our eyes. Then I tried to do the same with the Bible. As soon as I tried to set it alight, the Bible struck me on the chest and I fell to the ground. There was smoke all around my body. I was burning but from a spiritual fire. Suddenly I saw a man with golden hair, wrapped in light. He placed his hand on my head and said to me; “You are my son and from now on you will preach the Gospel in your nation. Go! Your Lord is with you.” Then I saw the stone which had been removed from the grave. Then Mary Magdalene spoke to who she thought was a gardener and who she thought had probably taken the body of her Lord. But the gardener was Jesus Himself. He kissed Mary’s hand and I woke up. I felt very strong and even if someone struck me, I could not be hurt.
Rejection by my family
I went home and I told my parents about all what happened but they did not believe me. They thought that the Christians had put me under a magic spell. I told them that all this had really happened and that many people were present and had seen it also. They still did not believe me, turned me out of my home and refused to accept me as one of the family.
Jesus became my saviour
I went to a Church close to my home. I told them what had happened and asked them to show me a Bible. They gave me one and I read about the event of Mary Magdalene and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour on 17th February 1985.
We do feel like Paul the Apostle
My family still refused to accept me back into the family. I went to various churches and got more knowledge about the Word of God. I also followed many Bible Courses and then I got a ministry. Now after 21 years, I have seen many people come to the Lord and accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
We are very thankful
Thanks to the Lord, I am now married and have a Christian family. My wife Khalida and I are involved in the work of the Lord and have been able to share the miracles God has been doing in our lives. Even though it is not easy and we face many hardships, we do feel like Paul the Apostle who went through many hardships and sufferings but who gave all the Glory to His Saviour, who Himself went through sufferings on earth and especially on the cross.
We thank God the Father for sending His Son to this earth and for giving us free life through Him.
We thank God for His Spirit who encourages us day by day to live for Him.
